Colorful teapot cookies…
For a sweet little girl’s birthday…
Happy Birthday Ariana.
Cannot believe that this little girl is 8 years old already! Time flies and she is growing up way too quick! It still amazes me how creative, smart, outgoing, and clever she is. I was talking to her mom about a month ago and she was saying that Ari wanted a tea party and pottery themed birthday party. Seriously? I would never even think of a tea party and pottery themed party at 8 years old. Too adorable.
Going with the tea party theme, we came up with the idea of teapot and flower cookies. Ari’s only request was that she wanted her three favourite colors (pink, purple, and blue) to be incorporated somehow. I’ve made teapot cookies before, but they were just plain white with contrasting decorative detail (check them out here). I have to say that the mix of pastel colors and almost embroidered-like detail just add so much more life to the teapots (unlike my first attempt at them… boing). Don’t these colors scream spring and summer? Lovee.
For the cookies, I used a #2 for the icing border/ fill of the base color. After that was all dry, I added on the white decorative detail with a #1 tip and used a slightly stiffer icing consistency so that the icing would hold it’s shape better – I found it really tricky to get the perfect consistency for the detail because it’s such a fine balance to have an icing just stiff enough to hold it’s shape, but to also flow nicely.
This little girl is going to grow up into something special, I just know it.
Hope you had a wonderful time at your party and wishing you an early 8th birthday, Ariana! Big hugs =)
Stay tuned for the flower cookies that went along with these teapots!
