Calling all peanut butter lovers…

It’s about to get a little nuttier up in here!

Grab your favourite cupcake and prepare to get your socks knocked off with this dreamy peanut butter frosting! Its rich, creamy, not overly sweet, and best of all, very nutty!  Did I also mention that its super easy?

Though peanut butter is one of my favourite foods (literally eat this stuff everyday!), I’ve surprisingly never tried making a buttercream frosting with it. Similar to the interior of a peanut butter cup, just more light, fluffy, and delicious.

The original recipe called for smooth peanut butter, but we only had crunchy. The crunchy peanut butter worked out fine, but if you’re going to pipe it, there is one thing you should know: since there are bits of peanuts throughout the frosting, you won’t be able to use a narrow piping tip because the nuts will get stuck. I usually use a 1M tip for piping, so I tried that because it looked fairly big, but the peanuts just kept getting stuck in the tip. So if you’re planning to pipe, either use creamy peanut butter or use a larger tip!

Enjoy! Hop on over to Angie’s Fiesta Friday party to see the complete line up of delicious food!

This looks fantastic! It seems to solve the 2 big issues I have with many frostings – it’s thick enough to pipe and hold its shape, and will have plenty of flavor (I find that many frostings have no flavor other than “sweet”). Looking forward to trying this!

  2. Whoa…Janine! I’m actually feeling a little under the weather and haven’t had much appetite except for fruits, but now I’m craving PB and chocolate after seeing these! I’m going to ask the husband to make me PB & Nutella sandwich! Not the same but it’ll do for now 😃
