Matcha Green Tea Macarons

Love green tea.

These are green tea macarons with green tea white chocolate ganache filling.

Sounds decadent eh?

I used Sprinke Bake’s macaron recipe and added 1 tsp of matcha powder – the natural green color of matcha is so pretty. Also changed the baking technique this time – baked the macs at 285 degrees F for 10 minutes (rotating half way through) and put a baking sheet on the rack above to prevent the tops from browning.

This technique seemed to work well for my oven. The only problem was that the shells turned out a bit weaker this time… not sure if this was attributed to my egg whites, ingredient ratio, or what. They still tasted delicious though =]

As for the green tea white chocolate ganache: combine one square of white chocolate, approx. 1 tbsp of sour cream and 1/2 tsp green tea powder. Melt these three ingredients together over a water bath and spoon onto macs once cool.

I always find white chocolate to be too sweet, but I really liked how the tanginess of the sour cream balanced out the sweetness.

    • Thank you! I found the matcha at an asian supermarket (T&T) and it wasn’t too expensive… Maybe try looking there/ a similar place? I know specialty tea stores carry matcha too, but at a much higher price. Good luck on your search
